Appointments with the Resource Assistant to help you with the 3 P's of starting over in a new country: Paperwork, Processes, and People (to locate for help).
New to the United States and looking for specific resources or services?
Perhaps you are looking for a daycare for your child so that you can work outside the home or an immigration attorney to discuss applying for citizenship.
Or maybe it’s a process that confuses you, like enrolling your children in school or applying for social services.
Our Resource Assistance service entails one-on-one appointments with our Resource Assistant to help you:
-
Complete paperwork
-
Understand processes, and
-
Find resources and service providers in any city or metropolitan area of the U.S.
Our 4-Step Approach of Assess, Research, Coordinate, and Follow-up will help you find exactly what you need, making the transition to your new country easier.
Learn about each step of our process here.
Come to your first appointment prepared to explain your situation, any obstacles you face in obtaining the resources you need, and any resources you have used or contacted thus far as well as their results. Please bring any relevant documents as well.
Appointments are held via phone or Zoom. In-person appointments are available for those clients who live in the Washington, D.C. metro area.
Resource assistance covers the total needs of the client; that is, it is not limited to one area such as health.
All resource assistance meetings are private between the client and the Resource Assistant. The information will
only be shared with the people involved in the targeted resource or service.
Need an interpreter? Let the Resource Assistant know prior to the first meeting. An interpreter chosen by the client is welcome to attend appointments.
NOTE: We do not provide legal or social services ourselves but can refer you to those that do.
